The rules of no-limit play also apply to pot-limit play, except that a bet may not exceed the size of the pot.
10. If a bet is made that exceeds the size of the pot, the surplus will be given back to the bettor and the raise will be the maximum allowed.
11, In pot-limit Hold’em and in pot-limit Omaha, a player can open for any amount up to four (4) times the size of the big blind.
12. In pot-limit play, if single dollars are involved in the blind, the ‘pot size’ will be rounded up to the next $5 increment. Simply stated - $1 to $4 in $1 chips will be calculated as a $5 chip. Other betting structures may be rounded upward as required.
13. The maximum amount a player may raise is the amount in the pot after a call has been made. Therefore, if a pot is $100, and someone makes a $50 bet, the next player can call $50 and raise the pot $200 for a total wager of $250.
14, In pot-limit games, if the initial bet is a chip larger than the pot size and is put into the pot without verbal or physical comment, it is considered to be a bet the size of the pot otherwise it is an implied ‘call’.
15. In pot-limit games, an additional ‘live straddle’ bet is allowed. The player who posts the ‘live straddle’ has last action for the first round of betting and is allowed to raise, even if all other players just call the straddle.
PLAYING WITH A KILL BUTTON
In games where a ‘KILL’ button is used players have to make a mandatory raise by accomplishing the following:
• In Hold’em games – winning two consecutive qualifiying
hands in a row.
•
In Omaha games – a ‘Scoop’ - to win both the high and the
low portions of a pot in a split-pot game with a total pot size to warrant
a ‘Kill’.
On the next hand the player must post a blind that is double that of the big blind and earns the right to act last on the first round of betting with the hand being played at double the previous hand’s betting limit.
The player ‘Killing’ the pot continues to do so untill he loses the hand. If players split a pot with the ‘Killer’, the ‘Killer’ must still continue to post a kill blind.
